Why YOU Must Love It First...
NOTE: This posting was adapted from a very popular article in Carol Look’s Newsletter. Carol creates excellent products to help EFTers and Practitioners improve their use of EFT.
Love what? Your own business idea, product, service, the presentation you have to give, Regardless of what you are offering your marketplace, this process will help you increase your business dramatically without working harder. How? Try this exercise to get you connected to your service or product in a very powerful way.
First simply sit down and write a list of 5-10 things about your idea, product or service that you love. Because, if you can't find 5-10 compelling reasons to use or buy what you're offering, why would your clients?

Claustrophobia – Matrix Scene Reimprinting Session
KARL: Sarah, what’s the problem specifically?
SARAH: I have claustrophobia. I’ve had it for years.
KARL: What triggers it?
SARAH: The most recent thing is probably the en suite shower downstairs. It’s really small and sometimes when it’s really hot in there and steamy I start to get a little bit
KARL: Just close your eyes and just get into that feeling of being in that closed space and it’s hot and steamy.
SARAH: Yes, I already have it.
KARL: What do you feel and where do you feel it? Am I okay to tap on you?
SARAH: Yes, you’re okay. It feels it’s all in my chest.
KARL: How intense is it right now?

Reconnecting with the Core – Living Lighter in the Now
How much ‘stuff’ do you carry around that doesn’t truly belong to you? How much lighter would you feel if you were only carrying your own ‘stuff’ in this minute?
It is possible to release all the old ‘stuff’ that has been passed down through the ancestors to us and which we’ve been gallantly carrying for them. Consider: What if they didn’t give it to us to carry, what if they gave it to us because they knew that we would have the resources to heal it for them? We can choose to say: “No more, this is enough, it’s time to let it go now.” And wouldn’t it be good if you could? YOU CAN!

Healing our Future
I keep hearing people say something like: "Every time I start to get happy or things are going right, I do or say something that sabotages my happiness, and life comes crashing down around me again. It is as if some part of me is afraid to be happy and it thinks that my feeling good is a signal that something bad is about to happen. Maybe it is trying to protect me?"
What makes us sabotage our happiness?
For some people the trigger is a traumatic event. "Everything was good in my life and then I got hit by a truck. Literally. Nothing seemed to work for me after that."

Resolving Traumatic Events with EFT Matrix Reimprinting
We are traumatized when an event occurs that in some way threatens our survival and makes us feel powerless. Often, during these events, we also feel isolated and we do not have the resources (physical and/or emotional) to deal with the situation.
The fight/flight Response
Upon realising we are in a threatening situation, the fight/flight response kicks in. This can be due to big ‘T’ type trauma such as physical, mental or sexual abuse, bullying, rape, mugging or other life-threatening events such as a car crash, wartime situations, natural disasters like earthquakes, fires, hurricanes, tornados, etc.

Five Worse Time Wasters
There are five things that you can STOP doing that will give you more time to deal with important goals in your life.
1. BEATING YOUR SELF UP
What you did didn’t work – or worse totally bombed. You feel bad, really bad, and all too often go into: I am no good; I am a total screw up; I am a failure; success is something other people have; I SHOULD have known better…and on and on.

I Had to Say Yes, Now What?
The personal story of EFT Master Tania Prince on her journey as the 2009 EFT Masterclass Organiser
We all have dreams in life, things we want to achieve. What stops us achieving those things? Our own blocks! Amazingly, clearing the blocks can lead to things flowing effortlessly. When I took on the role of the EFT Masterclass Organiser, I was well aware that I had blocks in place as regard to running the event. I also knew where I needed to be emotionally in order to successfully pull together this huge project. Below is my journey of the blocks and challenges I had to clear to bring this dream into reality.

Artfully Vague!
In EFT we talk a lot about needing to be very specific about what we’re working on. And yet, Borrowing Benefits works too. In BB we are specific about the events and emotions of the client we’re working with and the people in the audience are as specific as they can be about what they’d like to work on and then we leave the subconscious to spot the parallels between the events and make changes for us.

Thoughts on Spiritual Marketing – the Fear of Putting Yourself Out There
Most marketing is based on lack and the human sense of unworthiness. We can feel that the seller is playing on our fears and doubts to get us to buy their product. I feel that myself. Even as I am wrinkling my nose in distaste, I am still reading down that endless page of promises and testimonials about how this product will finally make me feel fulfilled, rich, competent and happy, feeling drawn in against my will.

I Won’t Know Who I am - TAP ALONG
EFT works so fast that some clients just aren't ready to let go of some of their 'stuff' so quickly. They may stop tapping Even practitioners may get to a certain point in our personal peace procedure and just stop. As humans we balk at change – even change we intellectually know will be better for us. Try adding your own ‘reasons’ to the below tap along. First give a 1 to 10 ranking on your resistance to do even THIS tapping exercise. Where do you most feel that resistance? Focus on that area as you tap.

Essential Skills
There are six skills essential for all practitioners to develop: Rapport, Nuances of Tapping, Non-attachment, Intuition, Questioning and Simplicity. The first essential skill is Rapport – THE key ingredient in any energy psychology modality or method. Rapport is achieved and maintained by listening to the client, responding with compassion and understanding and being congruent with the client’s state. Unfortunately, while rapport is an essential ingredient in any healing system or modality it is often overlooked by professional health care providers.

The very first step, before beginning to see clients with serious disease, is to focus on your self work. Ask yourself the following questions:

Using a ‘Butterfly Net’ to Uncover Core Issues
You need quick timing and a butterfly net to catch butterflies. Butterflies do have this habit of alighting and then flitting off quickly. So it is with our thoughts. I think of these flitting thoughts as butterflies. Some little memory or insight pops up right in the middle of the tapping process. I try to capture these newly surfacing thoughts or feelings, as soon as it appears. My most useful tools for catching fleeting memories or insights are my psychological butterfly net (a type of nonjudgmental observation) and a notepad.

A computerized TAP ALONG
This Tap-Along deals with a common tappable issue for many. Often a trauma revolves around what someone did to you – or didn’t do for you. Focus on that ‘something’ and tap along. Repeat until the event is neutralized. If the intensity is moving slowly or not at all pick a smaller ‘piece’ of the issue to focus on. If your issue could make your intensity very high start imagine your situation is safely in a box and start by tapping for ‘what’s in that box.’

Attracting Clients
A client I met at a Breakfast Networking Meeting was talking about his marriage and how he and his wife just couldn’t seem to get along. He had a lot of judgment around her choices and her dreams and goals and about her not wanting to do what he wanted to do. This happened to be something I knew about! I’d worked through these issues in the early years of my own marriage. I had learned to love and reduce judging. So often, our clients are drawn to us because they resonate to something in us. We have something they want to be like. I was an example of what he wanted to become.
There are thousands of people out there that are waiting for EFT. Are you getting the word out that you have something unique and wonderful to contribute with this tool?

Upgrade your Self Image with EFT
What we experience determines who we think we are. We can make decisions about who we are and what value we have in a single instant - and then live with those decisions as if they are absolute truths. We can forget, if we were ever aware of it, how we came to believe them.
Sometimes, of course, it is not just one single incident. One event sets us up to have a belief and similar things happen to confirm it. When dissimilar things happen, we just don’t notice. We are, as a species, template-matchers. We have to be. We are constantly exposed to more information than we could ever process. So have a built-in selection mechanism. Once we have set up a template in our heads we constantly look for evidence that fits it and mostly miss noticing what doesn’t.

Fear of Success or Fear of Failure
Fear is one of, if not, the most common denominators in working with clients who want to be successful or receive more money or have successful relationships. Or, it can be YOUR biggest block to your own successful practice.
There can be many different fears to work with and release before you or your client can truly experience a difference in your/their lives. Or, the fear can just be released with ease and grace. If a client is extremely motivated and really wanting to achieve something that has appeared out of reach, EFT is a wonderful tool to achieve the vision/goal/expectation whatever that is.

Sleep solutions with EFT
One of the most frequent issues that comes up in my client sessions and workshops is that of sleep, the lack of it, the quality of it and how to get more of both. I have had the good fortune to be able to sleep well at night and to be able to nap or doze when necessary. In spite of that there have been times when I couldn’t sleep, after my daughter was born, for example, which gave me a personal idea of how important sleep really is.
The first time I used EFT to help someone sleep was just before the EFT Master’s program was launched and Ann Adams called to fill me in on the program. She was in the process of creating the program, the examination, and selecting participants at the same time that she was running a large institution with all the pressures of a large staff and even larger case load.

Identifying and Using EFT to Resolve Family and Ancestral Patterns
The more work I do with clients, the more I recognise how much of how we see our selves and the world is linked to the beliefs of our families and our ancestors.
Way back survival was the most important motivating force. Not so far back our families would have starved if they had no work, or if they were labeled as dissidents, or heretics, they would have been imprisoned and maybe killed. Is it any wonder that they have passed some of their fears down to us?

How to Shift Fears About the Economy
A Tap Along by Rue Hass
Every person and every human event has the potential to move toward or away from fear in every moment. When we choose to constrict and shut down in the face of fear, we lose touch with our resources of spirit and creativity just when we need them the most. In order to survive and prosper in hard times, and return to good times, we need our energy to be clear, open and flowing.
We are all living through some tough times right now, globally, nationally and personally. I believe that we are being asked to make big changes. Fear is always a signal that says: "Change direction!!"

The Many Advantages of Matrix Reimprinting
Matrix Reimprinting is a cutting-edge technique created by EFT Master Karl Dawson. It combines EFT with quantum physics, to create rapid personal change. It is noted for its ability to quickly transform your relationship to your past, creating shifts in your emotional and physical well-being in the present.
Matrix Reimprinting is based on the understanding that when we experience a trauma, part of us splits off and goes into the matrix, these dissociated parts become ECHOs - Energy Consciousness Holograms.
The traditional EFT Movie Technique is a powerful means to release what has happened in the past. The Matrix Reimprinting technique furthers this by allowing you to interact with these ECHOs trapped in past situations, helping to create new and supportive pictures and 'memories' in your field.

The Brick Wall Technique
In the first week of January 2006 I received a call from Jackie (not her real name) wanting an appointment as soon as possible. She had to be taken to hospital on New Year’s day suffering from acute chest pains. She said it was an angina attack because of the stress she was under from entertaining her family at their traditional New Year’s gathering.
At the beginning of the session I asked Jackie to tell me what had lead up to the angina attack (information gathering). She recounted that the whole family was at her place and she felt under immense stress having to produce a big festive meal. The stress built up as she felt she couldn’t cope and resulted in chest pains. The ambulance whisked her away to hospital. The doctor who examined her said there was nothing the matter with her heart and there was no physical reason for her chest pain.

The special sensory qualities perceived by each of the five senses are known as sub-modalities in NLP lingo. For example:
- Visual sub-modalities include color, shape, movement, brightness, depth etc.
- Auditory sub-modalities include volume, pitch, tempo etc.
- Kinesthetic sub-modalities include pressure, temperature, texture, location etc.

Waking up from a Trance State – for clients and ourselves
It is well known that when a person is experiencing a negative emotion or feeling, that he or she is not fully connected with the “Here and Now” and is temporarily "somewhere else". He or she is either caught up in something from the past or is projecting possible future happenings - producing feelings like fear or anxiety.
Expressing this in other terms, when this occurs, the person goes into a trance-like state, for a short or longer period. There are people who feel they are in a trance-like state virtually all the time - a dream state or disconnected or "out of it" or “live in a fog” or even feel like they're in another universe or a different reality. A person may even feel to be fully “there" at a particular past time and place.
These trance states range from very light to heavy to completely consuming. They temporarily become reality (partly or wholly) until we reconnect with the here and now or other-wise “snap out of it.”

My Top 10 EFT Tips
1. Use silence effectively.
Sometimes a client feels so uncomfortable with silence that they will break it very quickly. Allow your client space to process the cognitive and physiological shifts they have experienced in the session.
2. Trust EFT - you don't have to do it all!
Many of us have taken on the burden of healing the world or our clients and we can let go of the need to do that. If you recognise yourself here - it's a golden opportunity to do some tapping. Trust that, with questioning - your client knows exactly where to go.

Being Specific AND Bundling Aspects
I was explaining to a training group of EFT practitioners at the weekend about being very specific about what they tap on whether it is being specific about an event, or an emotion.
It is best to really be in touch with feelings (both the emotions and locations in your body) when you tap. Many clients are used to being 'in their head' and analysing. Just going with the feelings instead can work so much better! The emotions can help you find early negative events easily and it's sometimes possible to bundle many events together while you tap. Try it:

Re-Integrating the Inner Child/ Adult (Soul Retrieval)
EFT can be a powerful tool for helping people heal from trauma and abuse. Deep State RePatterning (DSR) is a process that combines EFT with NLP, Inner Child work and soul retrieval.
DSR is an easy process that allows you to easily find the root causes of issues and to clear them in a gentle way. Most EFT approaches focus on experiences after birth, DSR however easily finds those events, as well as those that occur prior to birth, at birth or in a past life or generations of the family.
Although I mention past lives, you do not need to believe in the concept to use Deep State RePatterning. You could easily see this as a powerful approach to working with metaphors and stories.
Re-Integrating the Inner Child/ Adult (Soul Retrieval) is a process used in DSR that takes the healing that occurs after tapping through the issues, to another level. When people have traumatic events happen in their lives they can have a sense of loss of part of themselves. The re-integration process brings this part back into the person and helps them feel more whole or as Elaine put it after re-integrating her eight year old self, “It felt like a piece of my soul returned”. Elaine’s description is a common way that I have heard people describe the experience of re-integration.

Matrix reImprinting
A technique to change your relationship to your past and dramatically transform your physical and emotional health in the present.
In EFT, it is recognized that to heal any condition we have to heal the mind and the body simultaneously and that most of the myriad of diseases that are part of our society all have their origins in life stresses, beliefs and traumas. These traumas can easily be resolved with EFT, and the results ultimately affect the physical body.
Inevitably, as I have spent time as a practitioner working with EFT so intensely, I have begun to develop my own variations on the original EFT protocol. One such variation is producing results that are so far beyond the ordinary, that it has become the main focus of my attention. I have named the technique Matrix ReImprinting.

Dealing with Grief with EFT
Grief is a normal experience when you have lost something or someone - a person, a pet, your home - anyone or thing important to you. During our life we all lose people and pets or things that were precious to us. Grief sucks! Grief sucks our energy, our attention. Especially in the beginning it feels like our grief may actually drain the life right out of you. Holidays seem to be a particularly trying time for those suffering the pain of grief.
Generally we take months or maybe many years trying to think or talk our way out of the painful feelings. But is there another way? I think we can actually feel our way out of the feelings. EFT is a great tool for this. You can follow me in this exercise with a video on my web site but the wording is below. As in any tap along exercise use your own judgment as to participate.

7 Step Pre-Tapping Checklist For Client Work
The below list is a real gift to newbies and a terrific reminder for the rest of us. Many EFTers, especially beginners, start tapping right away with their clients. There are many pitfalls to this. This 7 Step PreTapping Checklist is designed especially to give you a good working frame for client sessions. It is built up on helpful questions on how to find core issues behind global problems, finding coordinates to monitor change, setting testing parameters, and refers to decisions you need to take before you begin the actual tapping process.

Influencing Motivation
Most behaviour, if not all, is an attempt to SOLVE a problem – even behaviours that seem to create more problems. What keeps someone doing the same things – OR what keeps them from NOT doing the things that could actually help? In other words what motivates someone to change a behaviour? Motivation is nothing more than being ready to change. That readiness or motivation may be more or less at any one time depending on the person’s perception of the present or perceived future challenge or loss.
Motivation is always there and dips in motivation are normal. It varies from moment to moment, day to day – the range of feelings can vary from being just above zero to close to total readiness. That range of feelings can be influenced. EFT practitioners help remove the barriers and conflicts that get in the way of completing a change:

Common Blocks to EFT Treatment for Addictive Behaviors
What is commonly referred to as a ‘reversal’ is often nothing more than a product of extreme stress, self-sabotaging and limiting core beliefs about our self, our lives and our ability to make positive changes in our lives. A psychologically reversed state exists when you are literally acting in opposition to your goal, even though you have the knowledge and ability to accomplish that goal.
Such psychological reversals, or energy disturbances, sensitivity to allergens and energy toxins are more common in persons with any sort of addiction. Persons with chronic physical or emotional problems and addictive behavior are most often ‘reversed’. However, these blocks can occur when using EFT with any problem even something seemingly simple.

Using EFT with Addictions
There are 3 important things to understand when beginning to work with addictions: The context in which it occurs, the purpose it serves, and the importance of giving an alternative (EFT).
Addictions are 'context bound'. There is always a context (internal or external) within which the problem behaviour or pattern takes place - a place, a person, a mood, a thought, a particular time. Addiction can appear to happen TO us, on autopilot, seemingly against our normal will. A first step in undoing the power of the addiction is to become really aware of the context. Questions are very helpful:
What exactly are you doing?
Where?
When?
Who with?
What for?
And then what?

The Choice Trio
Dr. Patricia Carrington is one of the pillars of the EFT community. She wrote the recently released Companion Book for the Movie: Try It on Everything. She may be best known for developing the ‘Choices Method’ for use with EFT but is a wealth of knowledge about all aspects of the use of EFT which she shares in her TeleSeminar Series and on abundant articles on her web site and on Gary’s. We are summarizing her choices method for this newsletter.
- Identify a specific negative cognition (attitude or belief) you would like to change or to be rid of.
- Take your initial measure of distress (on a 0 to 10 point scale)
- Formulate a Choice which is the exact opposite of the negative cognition For instance for the issue of: “Even though I’m afraid I’ll freeze and forget my words in front of a group.” The choice would be: “I choose to feel wonderfully at ease when speaking in front of groups.”
- Combine the negative cognition with the positive Choice - the desired outcome - to form the setup. For example: “Even though I’m afraid I’ll freeze and forget my words in front of a group, I choose to feel wonderfully at ease when speaking in front of groups.”

Find what is coming between you and real self-acceptance and you have uncovered something that is a core issue for you.
In EFT we use “I accept myself” and variations on it every time we do the basic EFT setup. Some people cannot say it. Many people only say it so automatically that they do not think about what they are saying. Maybe they don’t really accept themselves either. They are just not letting themselves notice.

Using NLP with EFT
(Tania will be presenting at the EFT MasterClass 11-12 October www.eftmasterslive.com)
NLP, otherwise know as Neurolinguistic Programming, is a natural compliment to EFT. Gary Craig learned NLP before developing EFT and you can see the NLP influence in his sessions. There are many NLP techniques that work well with EFT. Two of my personal favourites are anchoring and submodalities.
Submodalies
We experience our world through our senses. When we process that sensory information, we think in pictures, sounds, feelings, tastes and smells. Submodalities is the term used to describe the finer distinctions of our internal representations of the external world. For example, if we are thinking in pictures, then the picture we hold in our mind may be bright or dim, in colour or black and white, large or small, clear or fuzzy, near or far in our field of view. We may be looking at the event through our own eyes (commonly called associated) as if we are still observing it happening, or we might see an event as if we are watching ourselves in it (dissociated).

Have parts of yourself you wish you didn’t? Or pains you want to go away? All of us do! Inner Dialogues is an excellent technique to identify and address these parts. The concept is to create a new and better relationship – make friends – with whatever part of you is presenting an issue.
Generally when we have a painful issue, physical or emotional, we tend to isolate the issue and blame it rather than give it our whole hearted nurturing and care – and we certainly don’t accept it! Inner Dialogues (our ID) is about releasing the blame and judgment. ID strives to reassure the painful part that it is cared about and listened to, thereby allowing the body’s natural healing ability. This acceptance can be very powerful and healing.

Dealing with Your "Why Bother?" Doubts
Do you or your clients suffer from a “Why Bother Syndrome”? Why bother doing EFT when years of traditional therapy haven’t made a dent in your issues? “Why Bother?” is a form of self sabotage that prevents us from successfully releasing old issues, cravings and negative beliefs and it shows up in relation to many issues.
You are in “Why Bother” mode when you hear yourself saying:

Using EFT with Cancer Victims
There are many ways in which EFT can help cancer victims, from working with the immediate fears and anxieties to exploring the roots of the cancer itself, as well as pain and symptom management. It is also a wonderful tool for reaching acceptance of death, and inner peace and resolution.
EFT does NOT claim to offer a cure for cancer. It is a valuable support to the healing process, clearing the body’s blocks to healing at a physical, emotional and spiritual level. The body’s natural balance is one of health. When illness occurs it is because something is blocking that process.

Muscle Testing
Note: Nancy does a great job of briefly explaining the use of muscle testing and giving an example of how to use the fingers as a muscle test. Gary started out using muscle testing with EFT but soon dropped it as a practice. There are ways the responses can be influenced. If you would like to use muscle testing we recommend you receive special training in how to do it accurately.
Muscle testing, sometimes called “Applied Kinesiology” is a way of communicating with the body, in order to determine the person’s deepest truth. What we are seeking to do is to set up a system of communication with the body by asking it questions in a yes/no format.

Creating a Heart Connection
The heart connection can be established by placing one hand on your head and the other hand on your mid chest.
Working with the heart's energy is an important part of my work with EFT and is a feature of the workshops 'Opening to Love' (OTL) and 'Healing the Addicted Heart'. One of the principles of OTL is that the heart (literally) knows the truth and can teach us a new way to think. Our true nature has infinite patience and simply waits for the time when we begin to turn inwards and hear and trust our heart-truth. Heart-truth is the subtler, gentler polarity of mind that gets drowned out by the shrieking of ego-intellect or fear mind.

Know When to Stop Tapping
Total Transformation: Taking a Client from Neutral to Feeling Fantastic
(Although I have written this article as if you are working with a client, it can easily be adapted for working on your own issues)
Often when you work with clients they will say they no longer have emotion around an issue, however their body language may well contradict their words. Rather than take the clients words solely for knowing when to stop I always also evaluate the client’s body language to gauge when the tapping is a done deal.

How Does EFT Work?
Using Brain Waves to measure changes of EFT sessions
My first therapy teacher speaking about introducing people to NLP said: “don’t give ‘em an explanation, give ‘em an experience” and I have found this to be excellent advice to follow when introducing anybody to anything that is new to them. So often the words of explanations go right over our heads but what gets our attention is the evidence of our own senses and once we have an experience we can make better sense of an explanation.
When introducing EFT I seek to keep the words to a minimum and find the quickest means possible to start tapping. This does not mean launching in and tapping with no words of preparation: that is an easy way to lose rapport! No, we simply need enough words to gain permission to do something that looks strange and feels silly.

Raising your Metabolism with EFT
This concept of a unique use of EFT is originally from Silvia Hartmann of the U.K.
There are many ways you can use EFT to enhance your body’s health and well being. Silvia Hartmann’s metabolism protocol is great for working with metabolism and the system is flexible so you can change the wording in order to work with other body systems such as the immune system, digestive system, and so on.
This exercise is also an useful way to practice using your intuition as it asks you to guess the percentage your metabolism system is working for you.

Asking, Acting and Allowing
I am always looking for ways to simplify Spiritual practices and Laws such as the Law of Attraction. There are so many complicated and arcane texts that make it seem difficult or just don’t cover all the bases, such as Ernest Holmes brilliant but intense text The Science of Mind, The Course in Miracles and Thomas Troward’s Edinburgh Lectures.
Three simple words came to me that really cover the Law of Attraction quite well, they are; Ask, Act and Allow. The following article is my attempt to express this insight and to use EFT to assist in the application of the Law of Attraction in a way that you can use immediately. I have been writing a series of newsletters which deal with the topics that I cover in my workshop “The Art of Receiving” which you can have by writing to me at andy@spiritcoach.ca In this article as in my newsletters I will provide some tapping suggestions to help you create your own more specific set up phrases.

Alphabetical Ways to Use EFT
A number of years ago Gary used the following affirmation and he reported that it worked very effectively:
My ideal weight is…………and that is what I weigh.
Over a period of time I have found his idea is really helpful to expand upon. It works well for physical, emotional, professional & spiritual areas of our lives. I have grouped some examples of these in alphabetical order of possible desired states. The second half of the statement beginning with and……. can be chosen from the following possible suggestions or other ones which you prefer can be to created by you. Have fun expanding upon this great idea of Gary’s.
Possible ending statement for your setup:
And that is what I do
And I do this easily
And I am great with this
And this is what I want
And that is what I have

Ten Tips for promoting Family Happiness and Peace
- Night terrors can often be completely resolved by tapping on your child at the time. “Even though this is a really scary dream, I know you are a good kid.”
- Children will absorb new information much more readily, when you, and they, are free of overwhelming feelings. When they seek help, tap to reduce emotional intensity first.
- If you feel angry and want your child to change, then YOU have the problem. Withdraw from the conflict and tap to reduce your anger or frustration. Then try again.
- Children often cannot manage all the tapping points. Watch carefully and choose the ones that your child responds to best. Some children quickly develop their own favourites. Trust them.
- Create a bed-time ritual where you talk and tap about what is happening tomorrow, adding “what if ...it is really easy ... I am smart enough already. Children love it.

My Favourite Tips for Practitioners
Self Care: To best help your client you need to be in a good space yourself. If you’re in the bog yourself, how can you see clearly to guide your client onto dry land? As the plane safety announcements say, “First put on your own oxygen mask, then help others.” Use the Personal Peace procedure every day!
Network: Create a network of supporters, therapists, fellow EFTers who you can exchange sessions with. It’s always easier to work with someone else on deep issues, they have a different perspective. Working with someone else is not a failure; it’s taking responsibility for your own healing.
Humour: Don’t be afraid to add humour to your sessions, but not until you know you’ve had significant shifts, so that you don’t break rapport. When a client laughs spontaneously you know that something has shifted.

Why I love telephone tapping
Yesterday I heard one of the most beautiful sounds I have heard in more than 15 years as a therapist. It was distant yet distinct. It was “wow.” A telephone client had put the phone down and was walking round the room to test how the sensations in her legs had changed after just a few rounds of telephone tapping . She was not telling me what she thought I wanted to hear. She probably did not realise I could hear. She was just reacting honestly, expressing her surprised delight at the change. We had not even mentioned her legs. They had responded to clearing an old emotional issue.
It was a brilliant session with a client whose legs would not easily have carried her to my office but who was so quick on the uptake and eager for resolution that it left me reflecting on how my feelings about doing telephone work have changed.

A story about Mabel Elias
My gratitude to Mabel Elias, a remarkable lady, for allowing me to share her story.
I first had the great pleasure of working with Mabel at the Master’s Intensive held in Georgia, May of 2006. In spite of her skepticism, she was pleasantly surprised about her progress. Mabel had been told by the doctors that the cartilage was gone between her lower spinal discs, and that she would have to learn to tough it out and survive on prescription pain medication.
After one session, she was able to stand without the pain that, as she put it, had been her constant companion for many years. Weeks later in an email to me, one of her comments was: “Being the universal skeptic that I am, I expected that it was a transient effect and would not last.” It has now been more than a year and Mabel remains pleased with results and reports no need for pain meds.
