Getting Out of Your NO Zone

Jan Luther talks about PR as being Persistent Resistance. We are often in a battle with our own thoughts. Yet the real challenge seems to be that we find ourselves in situations where we feel that we have to do something that we really don’t want to do for one reason or another. Here is a tapping script from one of Jan’s helpful newsletters to assist you with getting UNSTUCK from this type of loop. Think of something that you are resisting doing and tap along:

Even though I don‘t want to _______________, I deeply and completely love and accept myself and I am giving myself permission today to just not want to _______________.

Even though I may be feeling like everyone is always wanting something from me or telling me what I can and cannot do _______________, I deeply and completely love and accept that it is no wonder that I feel like I don’t want to do one more thing.

Even though sometime in the past someone said or did something that made me feel like I didn’t get a vote and left me feeling like what I want doesn’t matter, like I cannot do what I want, I deeply and sincerely love and honor that maybe my bag of doing what I am told is overflowing and I am going to give myself a minute here to do a Nancy Regan and JUST SAY NO!!

CROWN OF HEAD
This feeling of don’t TELL ME WHAT TO DO – what to think what to feel what to say

EYEBROW POINT
Just for this minute YOU don’t get a vote over what I do

SIDE OF EYES
Just for this minute I am giving myself permission to honor my gut and say I DONT WANT TO _______________.

UNDER EYES
Giving myself a break today. I can do that for myself.

OVER AND UNDER LIPS
Giving myself some LOVE today

COLLAR BONES
Maybe this resistance is coming from the younger me that got fed up with always obeying.

UNDER ARM
Maybe the younger me won’t quit fighting me until I give that part of me a little patience and understanding.

BOTTOM OF RIBCAGES
It is not a sin to say NO

CROWN OF HEAD
In the past it may have felt like I might be seriously hurt or killed for saying no I want to assess how true that is right here and now.

EYEBROW POINT
I am not that younger me.

SIDE OF EYES
I can estimate the consequences of saying no

UNDER EYES
Would it be worth it to just say no?

OVER AND UNDER LIPS
Even though, this is probably not entirely about the situation at hand

COLLAR BONES
There are probably dozens or stories from my past where I got angry and frustrated and held it all in

UNDER ARM
Today, I am inviting all the inner parts of me that just want to have a good old fashioned two year old tantrum to just GET IT OUT OF MY SYSTEM and then .breathe.

BOTTOM OF RIBCAGES
Do I need to stomp my feet?

CROWN OF HEAD
Do I need to punch a pillow?

EYEBROW POINT
Sometimes the energy is just begging to be let out.

SIDE OF EYES
I can do this without hurting myself or anyone else.

UNDER EYES
Letting off a little steam

OVER AND UNDER LIPS
Honoring the part of me that just wanted permission to get it out of my system!

COLLAR BONES
Allowing myself to see the situation at hand in a new light

UNDER ARM
Honoring that ANGER is a turbo booster emotion. I can feel angry and still be polite. I can feel anger and be non-violent. I can be angry when I am truly feeling a sense of injustice about something.

BOTTOM OF RIBCAGES
Loving this body and all of the emotions that help me fully experience contrast in this life, including anger.

EYEBROW POINT
It is my choice; I can also choose to say yes.

SIDE OF EYES
What part of this situation can I say yes to?

UNDER EYES
Yes, allows me to be open

OVER AND UNDER LIPS
Yes allows me to breathe

COLLAR BONES
I say yes, I can say no, I say yes I have free will

UNDER ARM
I say yes, thank you to the person or thing that so upset me

BOTTOM OF RIBCAGES
There is a lesson here and I am grateful.
