Sometimes we have a sense of loyalty to our ancestors that we feel we have to hold on to the negative experiences they passed down or shared with us. This displaced loyalty showed very clearly in the DVD, Clearing ancestral patterns and rebirthing, when I worked with Hila, whose family had been through the holocaust. Hila felt guilty at the thought of allowing herself to be happy, when her family had such a terrible time. And yet for our ancestors, what they wanted is for those who come after them to have a better life than they did. Indeed, I always have a feeling they are cheering when something shifts for the client, their descendant.
Maybe, instead of feeling disloyal for being well and happy, the disloyalty really comes when we don’t use the strength we’ve gained from dealing with their passed down experiences, to do something differently, to live a different life.
We are often happier than we realize.
Happiness is a state of mind they say, and it is. It’s why in similar circumstances some people not only survive, they thrive, and others don’t.
What I’ve found, working with clients, is that their background, their family, the place where their family comes from, all affects their view of the world and their beliefs.
Most of the ways we view the world and ourselves are just coping strategies and those coping strategies get passed down through the generations, both by modeling and the things we are told and maybe even through our genes. There is research that has shown, for example, that the DNA changes in someone who has been through a famine and that DNA change is passed on to the next generations.
If you consider your beliefs about happiness, what do you find? Maybe things like:
I can’t be happy unless the people around me are.
It’s not possible for me to allow myself to feel happiness.
If I’m happy people won’t like it, (or me).
If I allow myself to be happy, I’ll be upset/a failure if I stop being happy.
Happiness is scary.
I can’t be happy until….
We all have themes like these running in our head. The great thing is, once you know that they’re there, you can tap to clear them.
As said earlier, we are often happier than we realize or allow ourselves to feel.
We focus on getting something, being someone before we can be happy, and so we can sit in the sunshine savouring a cup of coffee and not recognize the happiness that we’re feeling, because we haven’t achieved what we thought we needed to be happy. Seeing sunlight shining through a new leaf, the smell of new mown grass, the touch of a loved one, all bring happiness and as we begin to acknowledge that, we start to build a happiness bank. The more we feel happiness, the more the subconscious looks out for ways to create more happiness, the more we focus on the feelings of happiness, the more we attract it, that’s the Law of Attraction in action.
So try the Happiness Tapalong, add any of the beliefs you notice that you carry and then notice how much more you’re aware of the times that you’re happy. Enjoy it, you deserve it and if you don’t believe that, tap on it.
Happy Tapping,
