Gary Craig will go down in history for the invention of EFT and even more for the way he managed to deliver it to the world. It is amazing that in a short period of 10 years or so Gary has managed to get EFT so widely known and used across the globe. It was Gary's vision and genius that put this simple but powerful technique into the hands of the deserving masses to help fix their emotional problems.

It is a shock to hear Gary Craig say that he is retiring and closing www.emofree.com. He has been my idol since I first learned of EFT in 1997. I first learned of tapping from Roger Callahan's TFT (Thought Field Therapy). After discovering EFT I added this wonderful technique to my TFT workshops. I saw that teaching clients EFT empowered them to help themselves. Six months later I received a letter from Roger Callahan saying if I wanted to continue to be an approved TFT trainer I must sign a form agreeing never to tell a trainee about any other way of doing this work other than the TFT way.

For more than a decade I have had the great, good fortune of being able to participate on the ‘ground floor’ of the EFT Palace of Possibilities. Gary threw the gates to the Palace open to the world and extended an invitation to everyone who wanted to learn and participate in relieving suffering to join in the EFT community.

I stumbled into EFT nearly ten years ago at a two-day workshop promoting four different body-mind therapy techniques. EFT was one of them. But even to a therapist who was fully committed to significance of the body-mind connection, the idea of tapping on people’s bodies was radical. I remember worrying whether this was really psychotherapy. I wondered what my New Zealand therapist colleagues would think?

After doing a three and a half year diploma in Gestalt experiential therapy I felt raw. I was introduced to EFT by a friend during the course and went to see a hypnotherapist who had brief training in EFT. I felt so much better after the session, I wanted to share this fabulous tool with whoever would listen to me!

I remember sitting in a room with Gary and a bunch of my colleagues in San Francisco. There was all kind of discussion about how to proceed with getting EFT out to the world. As we sat around a table there were many ideas being bantered back and forth, mostly about the need to get research done so that EFT would be recognized by the “Professional” communities. We talked about how cost prohibitive research was but, darn, what a great tool we have to offer the world!

I first met Gary in Dallas in 2005, at his Serious Disease workshop. However, by then I felt I knew him intimately, having watched him for many hours on his videos. I still remember the moment he stepped out of my computer screen and into my tangible reality on that stage! Yet he was exactly the same as the Gary I already knew!

Change is one of those inevitable things in life. It comes as no surprise that Gary has opted to retire after his many years of tirelessly working to get EFT out to the world. I wish him well.

He has done an amazing job not only in developing EFT, but also in making it accessible to the masses of people throughout the world who have gained great benefit from using it. People who previously would have had to live with serious physical or emotional issues are now free to enjoy their lives.

Now then boys and girls, if you are sitting comfortably then I'll begin.

Once upon a time... well no not really 'a time' more like 'all time'. In a land far away.... well no, not a land, or a place more like everywhere. So, lets start again... always upon all time everywhere, consciousness which is all that is and is not of everything witnessed a singularity that manifested as a moment of earth time in a place called California. A singular moment of earth time that changed all subsequent earth time. Collective consciousness incarnate upon the blue planet had evolved in its time through mysticism, religion, more religion, science and more science. The planet was divided like the brain organs of the incarnate souls upon it into right and left or east and west hemispheres.

From 1999 until today in 2009 I have found that EFT has been the most important self help tool for myself and my clients that I have ever used. This is especially true at this particular time in my life as I am working through breast cancer personally. Dear Gary you are so special, thank you for so generously giving this gift to me.

Love from Mair Llewellyn

I'd just like to say a big thank you to Gary for all he has done to heal the World. The healing, like the universe will continue to expand. EFT will have done its job, when there is no hurt to heal.

Where would I be without EFT? Sitting in my office with a full caseload of "traditional" therapy clients --- I can't even imagine that anymore! I was originally sent to EFT by colleagues who had completed the extensive Thought Field Therapy training (TFT) that I did in 1996-1997 with Fred Gallo. I was thrilled with the simplicity of EFT, and the successes my clients had in my office or when I taught them to try it on themselves was undeniable.

I was first introduced to EFT in 2000 and have often said how it saved my life. I was distraught to the point of seriously considering suicide, yet my life was seemingly working fine. I found a newbie EFT practitioner, by accident, who tapped on me until I felt balanced and grounded again. The thought of taking my life now seems absolutely absurd.

When I first learned EFT I thought it would be too mechanical for me, that it wouldn’t allow enough room for adventure and creativity. But when I saw Gary demonstrate his art fearlessly, sometimes riskily, onstage with volunteers, I realized that EFT could be a wonderful tool for co-creativity, imagination, curiosity, joy, laughter and blessing. All the elements of spirit.

I downloaded the free EFT manual and did a bare-bone introductory workshop in November 2000. In the ensuing months, I "played" with it by using it with clients and also with myself. To my amazement, this simple tapping technique worked consistently and effectively and often very quickly. About four months later, I watched Gary's early videos for the first time which filled in many gaps and greatly expanded my understanding of EFT. By mid-2001, EFT had became my primary technique and has remained so ever since. I gradually found that EFT is open-ended, that its potential is almost unlimited and that EFT can be used with just about anything. It worked with virtually any type of event, emotion, belief or issue, whereas I had previously used an array of different techniques for different types of issues. It became clear that EFT works at a deep and fundamental level.

I don’t remember when I first heard about Gary Craig, but I have vivid memories of our first meeting at a small workshop of about 25 people in Rockland, ME in 1996.

I had been introduced to tapping by attending a basic Thought Field Therapy class the previous winter with Fred Gallo, and had found the taping algorithms to be so successful with clients in my private counseling practice that I committed, at great expense, to three days of training with TFT’s developer, Roger Callahan.

I first came across EFT 11 years ago, when my hypnotherapy tutor asked if I would be his guinea pig, "for this strange tapping technique that I've just learned." I agreed and I was blown away by it. It shifted stuff so fast for me that I could hardly believe it had happened. I asked him to train me to use it and so my EFT journey began. I used it hesitantly at first as it seemed so strange and then I tapped on feeling that it was strange and it didn't seem strange anymore!

I discovered EFT in the midst of what was starting to feel like a hopeless quest. Countless hours had been invested in reading, researching and testing techniques, in search of the ultimate “answer”. Finally, a friend, who had also been a willing guinea pig though all this, emailed a web page that listed yet another multitude of sites to check out. And there it was! As strange as the process felt in the beginning, the results quickly had me enthusiastically dedicated. It has been more than 10 years now, and my enthusiasm has yet to fade.

I remember when I first heard of Gary Craig and realized that he was giving an unusual vitality to what was then a only a very small tapping community. "Who is this man?" I wondered, "How does his work differ from Roger Callahan's, from Fred Gallo’s, from my own?” I was soon to find out.

The minute I saw Gary actually work –– it was at a conference in New Jersey –– I recognized that I was in the presence of a clinician of the greatest skill and sensitivity. Here was a real therapist, a born therapist, and a remarkable leader.

When I first came across EFT I had been softened up for the “weirdness” of tapping by exploring TFT many years earlier and deciding it was too rigid to be for me. Later I trained in EMDR and found it extremely useful. So when another strange therapy from across the water crossed my path I was ready to have a look at it. And I never looked back. EFT came to dominate my practice and my life and still does. It was like coming home.

I learned about EFT from a friend who attended a seminar in Vancouver. My friend Tom released a back pain he had struggled with for a year in a one hour EFT presentation. Tom knew that I had been living with pain for years and told me to download the EFT Manual immediately.

Since then I have been pain free from chronic neck pain and a broken cartilage in my left knee. Even though I had been a healer for fifteen years, EFT did the job in a very short period of time.

As far back as I can remember I wondered why people weren’t happier and kinder to one another. I have always been interested in what works to help people change. Looking for solutions to this conundrum became a theme of my own life and led me to explore many practical therapeutic approaches and fascinating philosophical ideas.

The thing I think of most when I think of thanking Gary Craig is this:

In 1999 while attending the first international Energy Psychology Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, I attended my first Gary Craig EFT workshop. Afterwards, walking down a corridor with him, I said something like, “I love this work. I just wish I could teach it to others. I’m sure you don’t allow people to attend a class and then just teach it.”

So many wonderful memories and stories :-) Meeting Gary for the first time in May of 2000 after inhaling all the EFT videos with hundreds of pages of notes, talking with him about using EFT with children, being asked to participate in the Specialty Series, becoming a ‘Gary Groupie’ attending all but 2 of his EFT workshops from 2000 - 2007, being at his house with 13 others creating the EFT training guidelines (from which the www.EFT4PowerPoint.com program was modified).
